Scuba diver beside coral and reef fish – PADI Open Water course in Hurghada

PADI Course Red Sea: Learn to Dive in Hurghada

Looking for a PADI course in the Red Sea and wondering where to start? If you want to learn to dive, the Open Water course is your first full scuba diving qualification. Join us in Hurghada and we will help you take those first breaths underwater, one step at a time.

Safety comes first. You do not need to arrive knowing how to dive. We explain each skill, show you how it works and give you time to practise. Your learning experience is very important to us, and there are no silly questions.

Planning your first diving holiday? Allow time for your training and two days of fun diving from the boat afterwards. That way, you can put your new skills into practice while enjoying more of the Red Sea.

Which PADI course in the Red Sea is right for a beginner?

The PADI Open Water course teaches you to use your equipment, control your buoyancy and dive with a buddy. It is a good choice if you want a qualification you can use on future diving holidays.

However, if you would like to try diving before deciding on a full course, ask us about an introductory experience. We will explain the difference and help you choose what suits you. You do not need to rush into a booking.

Why learn to dive in Hurghada?

Hurghada gives you the chance to learn in the Red Sea and discover its coral reefs and marine life. Even so, choosing your instructor and the right place to learn matters more than a photograph of a beautiful reef.

We teach the entire practical Open Water course from shore. This gives us time to work at your pace, away from busy boats and fixed departure times. First, we start in suitable shallow water where you can stand. Then we progress as your skills and confidence develop.

Your safety is our priority. Our PADI Master Instructors speak and write fluent English. We usually teach two students per instructor, although families can learn together in a group of up to four.

How your PADI course in the Red Sea works

1. Complete your eLearning before you travel

Once you have booked and paid your deposit, we send your PADI eLearning with instructions. Work through the learning and exam before you arrive. This introduces the equipment, diving principles and safety procedures you will use in the water.

If something does not make sense, contact us. We would much rather explain it than have you arrive feeling unsure.

2. Practise in shallow water

Next, your instructor shows you how to set up your equipment and carry out your safety checks. You practise skills such as clearing your mask, recovering your regulator and controlling your buoyancy.

We demonstrate, explain and let you try. If you need more practice, tell us. Learning safely matters more than rushing to finish.

3. Complete four open-water training dives

You then put your skills into practice during four training dives with your instructor. These dives help you build safe habits while exploring the Red Sea.

Our practical course normally takes three days. However, certification depends on meeting the course requirements. For the full schedule, inclusions and any extra training costs, see our Open Water course details.

Before booking your PADI course in the Red Sea

You need to be able to swim to complete Open Water. Let us know about your confidence in the water and any questions about the course requirements before booking. We can also explain the medical questionnaire and any clearance you may need.

Our equipment is maintained to manufacturer standards using original manufacturer parts and serviced by trained technicians. We also teach you the checks you should make before every dive.

Check our current course prices, inclusions and transfer costs when planning your stay. Share your accommodation details with us so we can confirm your transfer arrangements. Please read our terms and conditions before booking.

Stay for two days of fun diving after the course

Once you qualify, give yourself time to enjoy using what you have learnt. We recommend two days of fun diving from the boat with the same instructor after your Open Water course. You will practise your buoyancy, buddy checks and dive planning with familiar support.

We offer special discounts for these post-course diving days, so ask us when planning your dates. Safe diving habits matter after the course too. These extra days help you gain experience while enjoying the reefs, rather than moving straight into another qualification.

After certification, adults can dive with a buddy to a maximum of 18 metres, within their training and experience. Junior divers have age-related limits. When you later consider Advanced Open Water, we recommend gaining at least 20 dives first. This is our advice, rather than a PADI entry requirement.
