Planning your Salem Express Wreck dive
The Salem Express Wreck is a very different experience from a relaxed reef dive. This wreck is the site of a tragic loss of life, and we approach each visit with respect and careful planning.
Our dives stay outside the wreck. We do not enter the interior or disturb anything at the site. Your instructor explains the plan and the behaviour expected before the dive.
Dive with us for at least two days first
We only take divers to the Salem Express Wreck after they have dived with us for at least two days before the trip. This gives our instructors time to understand your diving and discuss whether the visit is suitable.
Those two days are a minimum requirement, not an automatic approval. Your qualification, recent experience, comfort in the water and the conditions all matter. Tell us about your background when you enquire.
The site has deeper areas and is not a routine beginners’ reef dive. We agree a plan within your qualification and experience, rather than expecting everyone to follow the same profile.
Salem Express Wreck trips depend on the weather
We only run this trip when the weather and sea conditions are right. Because of that, we normally confirm whether it can go ahead the day before. We cannot promise a particular date months or weeks in advance.
Please do not build your entire holiday around a guaranteed visit. If conditions are unsuitable, we will explain the alternatives and continue with suitable diving elsewhere. The decision is about the conditions, not filling a trip.
Why we recommend a five-day diving package
If the Salem Express Wreck is on your wish list, consider our daily diving and five-day packages. Five consecutive diving days allow time for the two days with our instructors and leave a possible weather window later in your stay.
A longer stay gives us more opportunity to consider the trip, but it does not guarantee that we will get there. The wreck trip is priced separately from ordinary daily diving. Ask us to explain how any confirmed trip affects your package price before booking.
The listed trip price starts from £120 per person. We confirm the current arrangements, qualification requirements and full quote with you. Do not assume the wreck excursion is included in a standard five-day reef package.
Prepare for a respectful, carefully planned dive
Tell us the date of your last dive and any concerns before travelling. If you need a refresher, we can discuss that first. Our scuba diving safety advice explains why it is important to speak up and stay within your experience.
Follow the briefing and your instructor’s guidance throughout the dive. Leave the wreck and its surroundings undisturbed. This is a place to observe thoughtfully, with respect for the people connected to it.
Make more of your diving holiday
Our daily diving and five-day packages give qualified divers time to settle into the routine and explore a variety of sites. A five-day package includes two guided dives each day. The price is £325 for one diver, or £300 per person when two book together for five consecutive diving days.
