Two divers in scuba equipment beside the Red Sea in Hurghada

Learning to Dive from Shore in Hurghada

Learning to dive from shore in Hurghada gives you a practical introduction to scuba diving with time to settle in. Our Open Water practical training is based ashore, where your instructor can work through the skills with you before you move on to suitable guided boat diving after qualifying.

Why learn to dive from shore in Hurghada?

Your first course involves unfamiliar equipment, new signals and the feeling of breathing underwater. A shore-based programme gives us a consistent place to work through that learning with you.

We explain the next exercise, demonstrate it and give you time to practise. The aim is understanding and confidence, not racing through a checklist. Tell us early if a skill worries you so we can work on it together.

Starting from shore does not remove diving risks or the need for training standards. Your instructor still plans each session around conditions, the course requirements and your progress.

Learning to dive from shore in Hurghada: the course rhythm

Our practical Open Water course usually takes three days, commonly starting around 8am and finishing around 1pm or 2pm. These are typical arrangements, not a promise to finish every student at a fixed time.

Preparation and time to practise

You also need to complete the required learning and meet the course requirements. We explain the preparation before you arrive. If you need additional training, we discuss the plan and any extra cost rather than rushing you into certification.

The PADI Open Water course page contains the full course details and current options. This page explains the teaching approach, helping you decide whether it suits the way you would like to learn.

Small learning groups and patient explanations

We normally teach courses with two students per instructor. Family arrangements can allow up to four, depending on the booking and needs involved. Children’s arrangements are discussed separately before confirming a course.

A small group makes it easier to ask questions and revisit something you have not understood. You do not have to pretend a skill felt comfortable just because somebody else completed it quickly.

Meet our instructors to learn about the permanent team. They have taught hundreds of courses and bring years of experience helping divers learn at different paces.

Learning to dive from shore in Hurghada at your pace

Tell your instructor what feels difficult. It might be the mask, buoyancy, equipment or simply the unfamiliar feeling of being underwater. A clear conversation gives us something specific to help with.

We take the time to explain and practise, while keeping the course requirements clear. Enjoying a first dive does not mean you must commit immediately to a qualification.

Try diving before choosing a course

If you would prefer a first experience before deciding, ask about our one-to-one try dive. It gives you a way to discover how you feel about scuba diving before choosing a full course.

From shore training to your first boat dives

After qualifying, we recommend allowing two further boat days to enjoy your new skills with guidance, ideally with the same instructor where arranged. Our guide to diving in Hurghada after Open Water explains that next step.

Those additional dives are separate from completing the course. They provide time to practise the routine, enjoy the reefs and become more familiar with diving without immediately starting another qualification.
